Blogging through Present Concerns, Etc.

As of late I have been making a habit of sharing things I have underlined in books I am currently reading. You could call it the ‘Things I Underlined’ series. I have just finished bombarding the blog with G.K. Chesterton’s The Everlasting Man, which I found to be one of the most thought-provoking books I have ever read (though I like the Anglican Chesterton of Orthodoxy better in some ways). I had particular plans for summer reading which have been waylaid since a few unexpected books dropped in my lap (or mailbox to be more specific) due to a Mars Hill Audio anthology I listened to that necessitated their purchase (used and cheap I might add).

Next on the docket are Present Concerns by C.S. Lewis and The Restitution of Man by Michael Aeschliman. I’m dabbling in some other books at the moment as well, so John Owen might make an appearance or two in the near future. I have tried to make it a habit over the years of reading a bit of Owen or Edwards nearly every day. I never want to get too far away from them.

Present Concerns is certainly going to be stimulating. Having already read a few of the essays, I am certain that his thoughts on democracy, in the essay Equality, will provide stimulation for thought and discussion.

That is all.
